Job description
Location: 100% remote (Europe, CET ± 3 hours)
Classification: Full-time, 30-40 hours a week
Pay Range: 60,000€ to 85,000€
At Miaplaza, we believe great design is essential to creating effective and inspiring learning experiences for kids. Our product foundations are strong, and our design maturity is growing. We're establishing UX as a core pillar of our company and are looking for a Senior Product Designer who can help shape both our products and our design culture.
You’ll be part of our UX team, reporting to our Head of UX. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and wants to make a lasting impact. You won't just be refining screens—you'll be driving user-centered initiatives from research to rollout, aligning teams, and solving complex product challenges across age ranges and educational needs.
✨ What you’ll do
Lead user research initiatives in collaboration with your team and product manager to uncover insights that inform strategic design decisions
Design intuitive, inclusive, age-appropriate experiences for learners and educators across our platforms (K-12)
Apply pedagogical principles and accessibility best practices to improve engagement and usability
Drive the evolution of our multi-brand design system, using Figma and collaborating closely with engineers
Facilitate workshops and design critiques that align cross-functional teams on goals and outcomes
Create high-fidelity prototypes and user flows to validate ideas through internal reviews and user testing
Take ownership of major product areas, from problem discovery to iterative delivery
Job requirements
🧠 What we’re looking for
4+ years of product design experience, ideally in EdTech or a mission-driven company
A portfolio that clearly communicates your design process, including research insights, iteration, and measurable outcomes
Experience leading or co-leading research and turning insights into design strategy
A track record of ownership—you've shaped product experiences and can speak to their business or learning impact
Proficiency in Figma, with experience evolving a design system across multiple teams or brands
Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience navigating cross-functional feedback
Awareness and application of inclusive design and accessibility standards
🧩 Bonus points
Experience designing for children or teens (ages 4-18), especially in educational or learning tools
Workshop facilitation skills to drive alignment and creative problem-solving
Experience with motion design or visual design for engagement and delight
Our Hiring Process
We take hiring seriously because we care deeply about building a thoughtful, mission-driven team. Our process is designed to give both you and us the opportunity to assess mutual fit, without dragging things out or adding unnecessary stress.
Here’s what to expect:
Application & resume review – We’re looking for potential, not perfection.
Online Product Design knowledge assessment – A short, scenario-based quiz to understand how you think.
Portfolio review – We’ll look for evidence of thoughtful problem-solving and impact.
Behavioral interview – A conversation with our People Team to understand your values and working style.
Take-home design task (about 45 minutes) – A short, focused challenge tailored to our work.
Hiring team interview – A collaborative session with designers and our Head of UX to go deeper.
Skip-level conversation – A chance to speak with executive leadership.
Reference checks – To round out the picture with past collaborators.
We respect your time and aim to give timely, constructive feedback at every step. We know job searches can be tough, and we’re committed to making this process as thoughtful and human as possible.
How We Work
We value designers who challenge assumptions, seek clarity in ambiguity, and bring structure to complexity. You should be comfortable working remotely, independently, and proactively—and you should care deeply about delivering meaningful value to learners and their families.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected starting salary is between €60,000 and €85,000, depending on experience and location. This reflects our compensation philosophy: fair, transparent, and adjusted to labor costs in your region. During the offer stage, we’ll share exact terms and walk you through the setup whether employed in Germany or as a freelancer elsewhere.
